  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  2. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the brisket.
  3. Pour beef broth into the slow cooker and stir in the tomato paste and minced garlic.
  4. Place the seasoned brisket into the slow cooker and turn it once so that it is lightly coated with the cooking mixture.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 8–10 hours, or until the brisket is very tender.
  6. Remove the brisket from the slow cooker.
  7. Allow it to rest for about 15 minutes.
  8. Slice the brisket across the grain or shred it with two forks.
  9. Stir the lime juice into the cooking sauce and spoon the sauce over the brisket before serving.

Notes

Start with ½ teaspoon chipotle powder if you prefer moderate heat. More can be added after cooking. Your article gives an 8–10 hour LOW cooking range.
