Method
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the ground turkey and diced onion.
- Cook until the turkey is browned.
- Transfer the turkey and onion mixture to the slow cooker.
- Add the bell pepper, garlic, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, chicken broth, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, chipotle powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Stir until combined.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 4–6 hours.
- Taste before serving and adjust the salt, black pepper, or chipotle powder as needed.
Notes
Browning the turkey first is particularly useful because turkey is leaner than beef and the browning step improves its flavor and texture.
